Training at Portugal. Not so easy…
    24.04.2015

Eurolamp World Rally Team was forced to miss Rally Argentina after serious crash during Rally Mexico and  planned extra training session on days of Argentinian race to turn this misfortune to good account.

Portugal has been chosen as optimal place for the training.  Firstly, because next race of World Rally Championship for the team will be Rally de Portugal. Secondly, because there was all needed equipment in Portugal.

The training program included a lot of activities, such as work of the team’s leader Valeriy Gorban with coach Andrus Laur upon some elements of driving in conditions as close as possible to the conditions of forthcoming Portuguese race. However, the first task the team had to solve was completely unplanned. Unfortunately, engineers diagnosed that some important parameters of the engine work had a few deviation from norm. That meant that the engine could be destroyed in short future. So it was decided to replace one. Head-office of Eurolamp WRT in Kyiv got to know about this decision at about 6 PM on Monday. At 10 PM the car with a spare engine left the team base and went towards Portugal … On Thursday morning MINI John Cooper Works S2000 with the new engine was on a testing road – Valeriy Gorban continued the training.

“Unfortunately, engine troubles slightly disrupted our plans. We had to reconsider the training list and some time had been spent on theoretical studies. But enforced absence from work on the track had been minimized thanks to the professionals of our team.  And I am grateful to everyone who had been involved in this process. In the remaining days we will work in a more intense pace and try to perform all tasks that had been planned for this training”, – said Valeriy Gorban.

Team training will continue until Sunday, April 26.
